Bellemont Methodist Church

Welcome

Welcome to the online home of Bellemont Methodist Church, we are glad that you are here!

Bellemont Methodist Church has an Outward focus and approach to Ministry.

Many churches in America today direct most of their attention, programs, personnel, facilities and budget toward the insiders, the members. But the thriving churches of tomorrow will balance their ministry with a deliberate focus toward those on the outside, many of whom have never sat in a Sunday pew. Here at Bellemont Methodist Church we have a passion for our community and its people. BUMC strives to reach out to and accept those the “Church” often rejects. We know that we are never going to reach someone we choose to isolate. God calls us to go where they (people outside the church) are. We joyfully enter their world and be ourselves. We will not ask anyone to clean their lives up before coming to our church. Instead we invite all to COME AS YOU ARE and be a part of a BIGGER STORY for your life and your family. Our staff and congregation are excited to meet you!

Please take time to explore our webpage to get a glimpse of what the community here at Bellemont has to offer. Check back often.
We hope to see you soon, and pray that God’s grace and peace will be made known to you in a very real way in your life!

Dr. Richard D. Booker

Lead Pastor

Dr. Richard D. Booker and his wife, Jennifer are natives of Greensboro, NC. They now live in Burlington with their 5 daughters (3 biological and 2 adopted), Kaleigh, Kemberling, Regan, Lune, and Alexa. They love spending time together as a family.
He began as Lead Pastor of Bellemont in January of 2024. He previously served as Pastor of Zion Methodist, GMC (2016-2023), Rock Creek UMC (2011 to 2016), and as Children’s Minister at Bellemont (2005-2011). Before coming into the Methodist Church, Richard served as Associate Pastor of Children’s and Family Ministries at Fishermen’s House Church (1998-2003) in Tulsa, and in evangelism ministries at Cathedral of His Glory in Greensboro (1993-1995). He has a passion for children and youth ministries, missions and evangelism, and a love for rural churches.
Richard has a degree in Early Childhood Development from Alamance Community College, a Bachelors in Technical Writing from North Carolina A&T, a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School, and recently earned his Doctor of Ministry in Christian Leadership with an emphasis on community development. He is fellow of the Thriving Rural Communities program at Duke and is committed to revitalizing the rural churches of North Carolina.
Richard is an avid movie buff and a huge fan of classic cartoons. His passions also include history, writing, music, hiking, and spending time with family. His favorite catch phrase is Carpe Diem (seize the day), right after Carpe Pizza (dude…let’s get some pizza)!
